Shine bright like an emerald

You’ve probably heard by now that Pantone’s colour of the year for 2013 is Emerald.

"Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty
that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony."

There are lots of blog posts and discussions about the yays or nays of this jewel-toned green, so I’m just going to post some pictures and if you’d like to share your thoughts in the comments, I’d love to read them :-)

Would you go big with Emeralnd and use it on the walls, or go small with emerald fabrics and accessories?

Or maybe you’d rather just have a pretty emerald ring and call it a day :-)

  1. That green door is perfect!! I'd use two of them for my dressing!! And I'n not allowed to paint walls!! It' a big no-no from my husband!! So pops like pillows or armchair for me!!

  3. No, wouldn't put it on walls but I do love it on those pillows. I'm more of a "blue" person anyway!

  4. I like the green - it brings the outside in !!

  5. I'm voting for it as an accent only. On walls it reminds me a little too much of institutional greens, like a middle school cafeteria or visiting room in a prison -- not that I would know, but just imagining!

I like it best combined with other greens. Thanks for putting up some photos for us to see Emerald at its best.

  6. I love it - in small doses, mainly. I think the key is muting the color just a bit - I have used Benjamin Moore's Silver Pine several time over the last year, and it's a beautiful and livable option for Emerald Green.

  7. I would love to use it both ways!I see it greyed up just a bit and put on the walls in a powder room or a library, and although I love Kelly green,I think emerald is so beautiful!!!!
P.S. I love your play of words to Rhianna's song! LOL!

  8. I love emerald green! I would use it on the walls in a sun room with lots of white and windows. But most likely I will use it most in accessories and in jewellery :)

  9. I've always loved emerald green, but wouldn't use it as the main color, but surely as an accent color... with blue and white!

  10. Don't think I would brave enough to paint my wallS in it. Would definitely consider it in a fabric though or perhaps just one accent wall. Like 'Kristie's'suggestion of toning it down a tad or even pair it with another deep colour like navy blue and rich warm woods.

    1. Brenda, emerald with warm woods is rich & luxurious :-) It also looks great with brushed gold/brass. And I think glossy emerald would look fantastic on a front door, as long as it works with the exterior colours and style of the house.
