On Friday, I showed you the projects that I had planned for this weekend. And I actually managed to get two out of three of them done, which isn’t too bad – especially considering the fact that two special little guests arrived late on Saturday night. Meet John:
And Joey:
They’re 12 week old Catahoula mix puppies and our newest fosters :-) Yes, two. We’re crazy! They’re soft & cute & cuddly and give great puppy kisses, which kinda makes up for all the pee and poop ;-)
Blurry action shot:
Poor hubby was on his own with them on Sunday while I was at my art class. But he survived, so it couldn’t have been all bad ;-) I made two paintings, which I’ll pick up at the end of the week after they’ve been lacquered. I’ll show them to you when they’re officially done, but here’s a sneak peek:
A big thank you to my friend Susan Bailie at Art Walls for showing me and four fab ladies how to create cool foil art :-) We had lots of fun, lots of laugh, and yummy butter tarts :-) Susan is planning another workshop in January – if you’re in Ottawa, I highly recommend signing up!

I also managed to finish another PARA Paints Blog Crew project – I painted the door to my craft room. It was originally typical white with polished brass window trim. I taped off the brass trim and sprayed it with grey primer and then black mat paint. Then I painted on a silver metallic paint to create a faux zinc effect. The door is P5196-51 Platform Sandals with P5021-34 Splurged Again along the edges. Oh, and I replaced the brass lever knob with a brushed nickel egg-shaped knob. It’s hard to get decent pictures because the room is small and the light sucks – this is the best I could do without giving too much of the room away. Gotta save something for the final reveal!
Considering how much time and work the puppies require, I suspect I won’t be getting too many projects done over the next little while. It’s amazing how much pee and poop comes out of their little bodies! Our two guys and their three brothers will be available for adoption in a couple of weeks – check out the Catahoula Rescue Ontario web site in a day or two to see all their pics and read their profiles :-)

I can literally feel the energy of those puppies coming out of the photos! Cute!
ReplyDeleteMarie, they go from having loads of energy to being zonked out! But they're always cute :-)

Kelly - so awesome that you are taking care of two more pups! They are so cute...and so lucky to be in your hands.
ReplyDeleteYour door looks great! You've had a very busy weekend.
Ok - off to comment on your tile layout now. Hope I'm not too late!
Kelly, not too late at all - the reno is at a bit of a standstill. The weekend was busy, and I suspect there are lots of busy days ahead with these two little guys!

those pups are adorable but are you insane? :~) Puppies are SOoooo much work; there is NO time for us when a puppy lives in the house as I'm sure you've discovered. Anyway, I think it's absolutely fantastic you are rescuing these darling dogs and pups. People who have rescued know how much time and effort you are putting into this. And now on to your painting -- your creative art looks beautiful and I can hardly wait for final results. And the door, gotta love it. I happen to really love that you changed out the knob. The lever ones are getting really dated and this looks so nice -- bet it feels nice too.
ReplyDeleteI can see some very colourful striping going on in that room -- ooooh, can't wait for the reveal! (Diane J-Schuller)
The pups are so adorable! I like the color you chose for your craft room door.

ReplyDeleteWhat cuties !! The puppy project may well cancel out any painting projects for a while - but worth it !!
ReplyDeleteI don't even know how you find the time for the things you do Kelly! It all looks so terrific!
