Nick at Cupboards asked me to participate in this week’s edition of Let’s BlogOff. Yesterday. Which didn’t give me a lot of time to put together a blog post, seeing as Let’s BlogOff happens on Tuesdays! But here I go with my take on this week’s theme…
You're given an island. The only thing to consider is once you move there, you can't leave. Who and what would you bring? What are the rules?
I should bring my hubby, but come on, this is make-believe! So I'm going to make-believe that I don’t have a hubby and I'm bringing Simon Baker and Kyle Chandler with me. Wouldn’t you?!
Besides, hubby needs to stay home and build that railing he’s been promising to build for the last two years. Can you say PROCRASTINATOR?
I’ll need a kayak because I love paddling…
And a bathing suit because I love swimming. Although seeing as this is my own personal desert island, I think I might just skinny dip ;-)
A lifetime supply of Bacardi’s strawberry daiquiri mix and Bailey's Irish Cream and a blender so I can make strawberry daiquiris any time I want. YUM! Cool & refreshing & tropical.
On second thought, I think I’ll bring a chef with me – HE can make my daiquiris and all my meals too :-) BAM!
Our 1994 Mazda MX6 so I can drive all over the island and nobody will be in my way. YES, my very own roads! Which will be pothole-free, of course :-)
And super-twisty for extra driving fun!
Lifetime subscriptions to all my favourite home decor magazines. Did I mention there’s mail delivery on my private island? :-)
And of course, to put all the inspirational decorating ideas to good use, I’ll need lots of decorating supplies and my Ottawa Decorating Divas! {Representation of my Divas enjoying island life}
Oh, and I have to bring my dogs with me! How’s that for priorities – bring the dogs and leave hubby at home! ;-)
No computers or iPads or phones because I don't want to be wasting my time in front of a computer when there's so much fun stuff to do!
But then, how will I be able to keep up with all my favourite blogs… hmmm… OK, one computer is allowed, but it can only work between 11:00PM and 1:00AM :-)
And that’s life on my make-believe tropical island :-) If you were given your very own tropical island, what’s the one thing you would bring with you?
Wait!

I think anyone who would bring their dogs along has the perfect set of priorities! I might be a tad biased though, but so what!
ReplyDeleteBut you would have to get a subscription to The Bark :-) Hey, dogs read!
Very fun - I'd like to visit you on your island!
ReplyDeleteIf I could only bring one 'thing' it would be my family - my husband, our two kids, and one black lab! :)
Great post Kelly, thanks for joining in!
ReplyDeletePhew!!! I was getting a little worried there, thinking that you'd be off on your own personal tropical island, driving your cool car and hanging with some hunky boy toys without us. But, we'll be there after all. Will you be sharing any of the above???
ReplyDeleteLove that cartoon! And now I so want to go seeing as I'm included in all the fun! And as Donna says I hope you'll be sharing some of the above - especially Simon and Kyle....
ReplyDeleteThanks SO much for joining in, Kelly- I'll visit you on the island... I may want to borrow your chef. Ha!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at Simon Baker and Kyle Chandler!
ReplyDeleteSuper LOL!! That's why I love following your blog.. you can be so silly and fun!
ReplyDeleteBut I think with your girls there, you're going to need a couple more Simons and Kyles... :)
Geeze Kelly, your rules suck! You get to bring hunks, food, BFF's, pets, mags, etc... and we readers only get to choose one wish.
ReplyDeleteI'll take all of your above wrapped up in a pretty package so technically it is one wish and add a pj- private jet, and oh one more thing Music... Adam Levine to sing me amazing love songs.... and other things :)
cheers
Susan
Love your island. I would bring ma doggies, maximus and caesar (I was lovin' the movie Gladiator when ma boys came into my life ~ lol) and a manual shift two-seater so I can drive as fast as I want and blast the music as loud as I want without disturbing anybody.
ReplyDeleteExcellent choices Kelly! I must agree to the day and life of a procrastinator...hmmm oh how I daydream of days like that!
ReplyDeleteHilarious lol. You've really thought of everything! Are we allowed to visit you?
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love your must-haves Kelly:} I like your computer rules and the life time mag subscriptions, gotta keep up on all the latest stuff even if you are on an island!!!
ReplyDeleteNancy xo
Only your Ottawa Decorating Divas and not your old blog partner?! Pleeeeaaaassseee can I come too??? I have this GREAT sun tan lotion from Maui that makes you really really brown... I'll bring it if you invite me :-)
ReplyDeleteVictoria
What a fun post Kelly! I really enjoyed it, and LOL at the super-twisty roads!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what I'd want to bring to my island, but I thing I would pick my hubby :) He's so handy, he could probably construct a house out of palm trees ala Blue Lagoon..
PS: Come join my giveaway! You can link up yours too =)

Amazing! What a fun post and you are a super blogger to have *thrown* it together so wonderfully on short notice. Don't know where you find all your photos and come up with your creative ideas but it sure made for an enjoyable read.
ReplyDeleteIf I could bring only one thing (a thing, not a person) I would bring my Kindle. The only way to make sure I didn't run out of books! Kat (ps, I'm so crashing this party!)
ReplyDeleteYou have chosen so well Kelly but don't forget the sunscreen - slip, slop and slap is our slogan here !! Slip on a shirt, slop on the sunscreen and slap on a hat - you'll need all that on your island !!
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun to dream! And I agree with Susan's comments about your rules - hee hee hee, but if I can only bring one thing/person...hmmmm...tough call...but I would bring my best friend with me...as Christopher McCandless wrote, "Happiness only real when shared".
