This or That: Mirror mirror on the wall

Thanks for all the wood shelf support last week :-) Unfortunately, hubby isn’t budging on his anti-wood shelf stance. Boo! Men can be so stubborn! But I guess I’ve gotten most of what I want in the room up to this point {hello sparkly girly chandeliers!}, so I suppose I can let him have this one ;-) I’m still at a roadblock with the horizontal vs vertical niches – luckily, I don’t need to make a final decision yet. And now there’s this new idea in the mix – what do you think of the curved surround behind the tub in this bathroom?

Do you prefer the look of of one long mirror that goes right across a double vanity, or a mirror above each sink?

  1. I am in love with the two mirrors. We want to take our giant one down and do two. I think the giant one looks very builder grade unless you frame it out and customize it!

  2. Holy crap! (literally!!) Just how big does a bathroom have to be these days? There are rooms in my house smaller than some of those bathrooms...

they are lovely, though. My current preference is for separate framed mirrors. Stay tuned though, my preferences seem to change quite rapidly these days :)

  3. This is a tough one. They both are great. I think I'd go with one large mirror, however I also like the look of mix matched mirrors to reflect each persons personality or slight variations on the same style mirror.

  5. Oh Kelly so hard to choose they both have their merits! A mirror can be such a fun thing to find seeing as it can really steal the show in terms of frame style. No frame equals more modern, and then there is the lighting arrangement to consider. I don't know your on your own this time.

  6. Oh boy...this is hard to choose! I think i prefer the dark mirror. I think it will look really nice in your new bathroom! And as for the curve surround....it looks AWESOME!

  7. I prefer one big one because it makes the room look so much bigger, but it looks much better with a nice frame. Getting ready in front of a huge mirror is so fun! :)

  8. This depends on your vanity and how it is set up in the room. Sometimes I prefer one long mirror and other times, like in my bathroom I framed out two separate mirrors. Sorry not much help, I'd need to see the rest of the room.

  9. I'm torn about which look I prefer. Mostly because, to me, it depends on the size and shape of the room. If the room is really expansive, then I think the two individual mirrors is a really nice almost classic look. But, for most bathrooms that may not be so roomy, I tend to really like the one large mirror approach. It can look a little less cluttered in a smaller space and add more reflection too.
(I just realized that the little link for me takes you to a place where I no longer exist online so this is the Diane that is commenting: www.dianeschuller.com/blog -- I'll have to see if I can somehow change how it links in comments.)

  11. Really love the curved surround behind the tub. Mirrors I prefer are the one piece because at times two mirrors can have a room that feels chopped up. Design is such an interesting field you can have whatever you want in any space you choose.

  12. I really like both options....but I love the double mirrors the best! I can't wait to see the final bathroom! I know it's going to be amazing!

  13. I'm with Kerrianne, love the double mirrors! I think they bring more character to the space, but I also like the full length option. But seriously, Kelly, whatever you do is going to look great! You haven't mistepped yet! This is going to be one incredible bathroom :-)

  14. The mirror issue for me depends on whether you are doing sconces or lighting above. I love sconces they make you look great when you leave the house so if I have room I always recommend two mirrors the lights.

Don't you just love Sarah's designs. She is clearly the best on TV. Genevieve is moving on up there a long way from her moss on the wall days of Trading Spaces.
