I’m still getting comments in my pendant light vs. wall sconce debate. And I’ve gotta tell ya, it’s not going to be an easy decision! Just when I think I’ve decided sconce, I read a new comment and change my mind to pendant. And then back to sconce. And then back to pendant. The final decision may come down to which is easier to install. Whichever way we go, new electrical & junction boxes will have to be wired, and it’ll probably be easier to do that in a wall than in the ceiling. So I have a feeling sconce is going to win out.
This week’s This or That is more like This or That or That or That or That or That. I’ve come up with six different tile layouts for the floor, and I can’t decide which one I like best. I have a few favourites, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on them all. I showed you the final tile section in this post – a dark bluey-grey porcelain 12” x 24” tile with an accent strip in a Bianca Carrara mosaic:

These are the six layouts, in no particular order…

Let me know if you have a favourite. You can also let me know if you think they all suck, but I hope they don’t ALL suck!

Oh boy! I'm torn between 2,3 & 4. 1 & 5 Are my least favorites, and 6 is so pretty, but would it be too busy in the space? What I love about all of them is how incredible your large tile will look no matter which way you opt too. It's just beautiful tile any way you lay it!
ReplyDeletedepends on what's happening in all the other areas being treated with tile. what's on the shower and the backsplash? the patterns/designs should play nicely with each other. :)
ReplyDeleteI kept looking at all of them saying "that's nice", "oooh, that's nice" but when I got to 6 I knew it was the winner.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to go with 2, 3 and 6 :) &3 is my ultimate fave. though :)
ReplyDeleteAck! This is so hard! You gotta give us more deets though, is your bathroom long and narrow or square or wide and short, that will affect my choice. They are all pretty great thought.

I don't think any of them suck, I think they are all great! My vote is for sure #6 though!
ReplyDeleteI like #4 :)
ReplyDeleteLove #6! It reminds me of a woven basket! :)
ReplyDeleteOh man! I absolutely LOVE #6! It looks like it's almost woven together!
ReplyDeleteAll are wonderful in their own ways, but I am drawn to #4 the most.
ReplyDeleteI am a boring traditionalist - I'd go #5 but then again maybe #...... - oh it's too hard for me, especially after work !!!
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for #6. Some of the others layouts smake me dizzy, but this one has a rhythm, a predictable design. And as Phoenix and Ashley said, it looks like basketweave. I wouldn't get tired of that. It's relaxing. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteOh hard decision. I'd say either #3 or #6 but #6 maybe a little complicated to install. As the previous commentors said it looks like basket weave, which I love. What program did you use to do layouts, it's a great visualizer?
ReplyDeleteI love #3 and #6, preferably #6! I love the offset look of the tile. Not that it accounts for a whole lot, but when I met with a designer, she recommended doing offset tile on the floor and stacked tile in the shower, so that's the plan we are going with for now! Hope that helps in your decision :)
ReplyDeleteKelly,at first I was like I can't choose!!!! Then I saw #6 and fell madly in love,it's a sheer winner for me classic with just a enough jazzing up that it will always look clean and fresh and you will never tire of looking at it!!!

I think 6 is the best and I haven't seen this done before in such large scale. I don't like the squares even though that may be because it too small and busy in the small picture format. I can hear the installers complaining now.
ReplyDeleteI like the woven look of number six. How you lay it though I guess would depend on the size of the room and if you are trying to minimize or maximize the space.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Kelly B.'s comment above as IMHO would not want it to compete with the layout or other chosen tiles; particularly 'the wave' ones you are using in your shower stall.
ReplyDeleteP.S: Also when determining your layout, to me the colour and size of grout line will play an important part as well.
DeleteGORGEOUS!!! Looks like you got all new cabinets! I love ALL the details, but especially the back splash and the counters! GREAT job!!!
