Thanks for all the great input on last week’s inaugural This or That feature. I loved reading all your comments about shower benches. There were lots of good points brought up about the pros and cons of a free standing teak bench versus a built in tiled bench. It’s a tough choice, but it looks like hubby is going to build a teak bench.
This week’s installment of This or That is vanity lighting.

Do you prefer pendant lights or wall sconces above a bathroom vanity?

Both!! There are so many lovely options in both categories that would work in most bathroom designs. But since the name of your game asks that I choose... it'd be pendant lights :-)

Just because!

I love the impact of pendants, because they are less expected in a bathroom than wall sconces. So pendants it is!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so much for entering our giveaway :-) Good luck in the draw, Kelly!
Oh sconces for sure! Love, love, love them!!
ReplyDeleteI think pendants... but I love both!
ReplyDeleteEach style looks great. It would have to depend on the shape though.
ReplyDeleteIf you get pendant lighting I`d go with ones that hang to the side, I read somewhere that over head will cast shadows on your pretty face and you don`t want that! From the pics I`d either go with the glass pendants or the silver wall sconces.
Cool that your husband is making the bench, soon he will need his own blog!

love the top right corner vanity!!! Clean, classy and chic!
ReplyDeleteI'll go with the pendant lighting or even a small chandelier in a small bath.
ReplyDeleteI like both equally. Can't choose one over the other. :)
ReplyDeleteI like them both too, although I'm leaning towards pendants because they're kind of unique and unexpected. Hubby and I might have to arm wrestle over this one! ;-)

I can't choose - both look great so I am no help !!
ReplyDeletePendant lighting! Though the placement and length would be a little tricky. Nothing would drive me crazier than seeing the light reflecting back into the mirror.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of the reflection, Paula - thanks for pointing that out, another factor to consider!

depends how much wall space you have for sconces! sconces are great because they give good, flattering light. more flattering than overhead. but those pendants sure do look cool.
ReplyDeletePendants!!! I've got my eye on a few right now!! :) Can't wait to see this teak bench too!
ReplyDeleteI always use sconces but I actually prefer pendants. Why do I do that? I have no idea but clearly I need to analyze my design decisions more clearly in future:)
ReplyDeleteI think I like the sconces more in the bathroom. But the pendants are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDouble basins; then triple scones OR two flanking pendants of clear glass similar to what you have shown since I understand they cast more light than a shaded sconce. -Brenda-
ReplyDeleteGood point about the clear glass shades for pendant lights. This is going to be a tough decision!

I like both depending on the room size and style. They all work for me. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI like both but prefer the hanging pendants. Its a very modern and minimalist look, which I adore.
ReplyDeletetruth be told I really do like pendants BUT ... I think they are a bit trendy whereas the wall sconces are more classic. They can still be any style, whether traditional, modern, retro, or whatever.
ReplyDeleteI say pendants. One wouldn't expect them typically in a bathroom. I know you want the wow factor too...Be different:)
ReplyDeleteSconces make you look great. When I get dressed in the morning I imagine that I look that good all day.
