It’s a new year and a new line-up of shows on HGTV. Here are some of the new and returning shows debuting this week… which ones will you be watching? (Show descriptions from HGTV.ca)
Sarah 101
Tuesday @ 9:00PM
Sarah 101 is a back-to-basics crash course in design that breaks every project into simple building blocks and showcases Sarah Richardson's signature approach of tips and tricks to solve design problems so that you too can transform any room in your home!
Will anyone NOT be watching Sarah & Tommy’s new show?!
Design DNA
Tuesday @ 9:30pM
Design DNA combines the simplicity of "How It's Made", the popular manufacturing show, with high style design. This show focuses on the amazing stories of the world's most extraordinary and ordinary pieces of home design. From the first spark of conception through the trial and error of design, to the factory floor, and finally to a stunning reveal in a magnificent home, each episode features the life story of three iconic and sometimes not so iconic pieces of home design.
I’m looking forward to this new show. It sounds interesting and informative, and I like that it puts a different spin on home decor.
Professional Grade
Thursday @ 8:30PM
Homeowners sweat it out on do-it-yourself home projects and try to match wits with a panel of contractor experts as they attempt to put a price tag on their hard work. In each episode of Professional Grade, host and professional contractor, Sean Smith will be on hand to help the contestants in their quest to win big money by making smart choices and keeping the costs of their upgrades low. If they succeed in spending less than the contractor panel’s estimate, the homeowners win the difference in cash!
I haven’t seen or heard anything about this new show, other than this description from HGTV.ca. It sounds like it has potential, and it could inspire some DIY projects.
Marriage Under Construction
Monday @ 9:30PM
Marriage Under Construction 4 is a 13-part docu-soap that follows Matt and Kate's relationship, along with the struggles of building their first home together. It’s a personal and physical renovation.
I watched the first two seasons, but I just couldn’t tolerate the couple on season 3. They were beyond obnoxious, and the husband’s “I seals” T-shirt was the last straw for me (I later discovered that the husband is Chef Rodney from Steven & Chris). Hope this season’s couple doesn’t suck!
The Decorating Adventures of Ambrose Price
Wednesday @ 8:30PM
Ambrose Price is a vibrant, enthusiastic designer from Fortune Nfld; population 2000. His dream is to make it in the “big city” and become Canada’s Martha Stewart. Ambrose is coming to Toronto to work as a temp and learn from the biggest and best in the design industry. In every episode, Ambrose will face a different (and somewhat daunting) decorating challenge. Of course, getting to the top is going to take a lot of hard work and training.
Will he accomplish all of his decorating dreams? Playing on his naivety over the course of 13 different jobs and adventures, viewers are brought along for the ride. And perhaps, like Ambrose, they'll also learn a thing or two about design from the best of the best.
For Ambrose, this is a journey of decorating and self-discovery and a step closer to becoming the master decorator he's always dreamed of being.
There are no words to describe Ambrose! He’s definitely one-of-a-kind, and is probably the only person in existence with that wacky accent!
Can't wait for Sarah, and Ambrose is adorable... You're right about MUC... It totally depends on the couple. Yay for new hgtv shows!
ReplyDeletelol..i haven't heard about this show with this ambrose guy. But, Fortune, where he is from is only 30 minutes from where I grew up. Yes the accent is wacky and no, I do not have it!! It's long gone. I will tune in just to check it out.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the new shows, just wish I had a PVR as the evenings don't always work to watch TV and there are silly Holmes and Extreme Makeover shows during the day! Wish they would re-run the evening shows in the day - argh:)
ReplyDeleteBUT regardless I CAN'T wait to watch Sarah and Tommy!
Some great shows to look forward to! Love Sarah and Tommy.
ReplyDeleteYou mean your not going to be watching the Vanilla Ice Project??? He'll be renovating homes on camera...literally. Ok I'm not going to be watching it either, ha ha. But I am SO pumped for Sarah and Tommy, I can't wait!! And PS. I actually have a friend from Nfld that says many words the same was that Ambrose does!! Funny huh?

ReplyDeleteI will be watching Top Gear - my favourite show - do you get it in Canada ??
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love and will watch anything Sarah does. I think Professional Grade is a renewal. Seems like I remember something similar last season. Any way I will watch as Sean is easy on the eye. Hey! I am old not dead.
