It’s been a long time since my last master bathroom update. That’s because there was nothing much to show you! Not that things weren’t happening, but there really wasn’t much of anything to get excited about – unless reconfiguring the plumbing and electrical rocks your world ;-) But now that the plumbing & electrical are done, it FINALLY looks like some actual progress is being made. WOOT!
So here’s a quick look at what’s been going on over the last six months. Hubby ripped out the floor and walls and re-routed the plumbing. The shower, toilet, and vanity are going in different places than the originals, so there was a lot of new plumbing to do, as well as filling in some holes in the subfloor. The room looked like this for almost five months. Not a pretty view to wake up to every morning!
It was a big week when the drywall finally went up! {There’s Stanley, the site foreman :-) }
Cement board installed in the shower {waterproofing is almost done now}.
Drywall mudded & sanded.

I was so excited to try out the colour I selected for the ceiling, PARA Paints Peaks & Valleys. It’s a beautiful light grey with a hint of bluey-green, but it turned out to he lighter than I wanted.
So I went back to my PARA fan deck and decided to try out Tribeca Square. It’s absolutely PERFECT! The exact blue that I was looking for :-)
I love Tribeca Square so much, I decided to use it inside the linen closet as well.
I was trying to choose between a few light greys for the walls, and then I had an Ah-Ha moment – why not use Peaks & Valleys on the walls? Love it with Tribeca Square :-)
I just painted one coat on the ceiling and walls for now – the second coats will go on once all the work that could potentially require touch-ups is done. It saved a bit of work because I didn’t have to cut in, and I was so anxious to see how the colours looked, I didn’t want to wait!
I’m so loving how the tiles look with the wall colour…
I primed and painted one coat of PARA Jo Jo Whitewash on the crown moulding, and hubby installed it a few days ago.
And that’s where stand at the moment. Still do do… install in-floor heating, prep floor for tiling, tile floor, get glass cut for shower, tile shower, install shower drain, install shower glass and door, paint and re-install door & window trim, paint and install baseboard, install toilet and tub, install faucets, build & paint vanity, hang chandeliers, hang mirror and install wall sconces, source Super White quartzite for the vanity and shelf beside the tub… UGH! Still so many things that need to be done – hopefully it won’t be another six months!
Happy long weekend & Happy Easter!
It's looking great! I love the color choices. I also love that someone else likes to paint the inside of closets :)
ReplyDeleteOur little bathroom seemed to take us a long time; remodeling is a lot of work.
Rome wasn't built in a day (that's what I keep telling myself too! It's coming along great and I'll have to remember Tribeca Square - looks really pretty in the photo.
ReplyDeleteLooking great! I don't think I would have the patience for a job like that. Loving your new ceiling color, and I can see why you wanted it in your linen closet. We're all looking forward to the next update.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, Stanley the foreman is going to let this project go on for 6 months? I bet if you gave him a big bone he'd make sure that hubby would get it done in a week ;)
ReplyDeleteI think your shower is going to be spectacular, it looks huge! And I love your ceiling colour, I'm contemplating doing a blue ceiling over the shower too.
It's fun to see an update of your progress.

It looks great Kelly. Looks like you have made all the right choices to have a bathroom that's going to look fresh 10 years down the road.

So exciting, Kelly!! It's coming along nicely!!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you, too!!!
geez Kelly that is a lot of work! Your husband is really incredible for all the things he is doing and even knows HOW to do! Plumbing!!! You two are really doing great on this. Love your colours, of course :)
ReplyDeleteStanley is clearly an expert - things look like they are going well !!
ReplyDelete"You've come a long way kid". ☺ It will be well worth the wait as its going to FAB-U-LOUS!!!!!!!!!! Luv you choice in paint colours.

Thanks Brenda :-) We're getting close to tiling the floor - hubby needs to install the waterproofing on the shower floor, and then we're good to go. Hopefully we'll get started on the tiling this weekend - WOOT!

Amazing work! and gotta love your cute foreman :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I totally get what you meant about not much to update. We're working on our basement now, and it wasn't very exciting when it was just framing, electrical, and plumbing. Dry walls are up now, so hopefully I will feel the urge to post again. :D Good luck and definitely exciting times!
It’s not surprising it have taken you a long while to post updates about the progress. Renovation is a huge task, especially since you are going to abolish the recent area plan and reconstruct it back from the scratch. Anyway, I really like how the project turned out. It seems like you worked according to what you have planned beforehand. Thanks for sharing!
