I’ve been putting my craft room to good use lately and creating some new foil paintings…
I also have quite a few in-progress paintings, and a huge canvas that’s prepped and just waiting for some paint – it’s the biggest painting I’ve tried so far and it’s just a little bit intimidating!
So now that I’ve created quite a few paintings (probably between 40-50), I’m thinking of maybe opening an Etsy shop and selling a few before they totally take over my house! It’ll suck if none of my paintings sell, but I guess I won’t know if I don’t try, right?
If you’ve had experience selling on Etsy, I’d love to hear about – both the good and the bad!
Gee Kelly, wish I had some input or advice but am afraid I don't have any with the exception that I might be concerned about the obstacle of shipping them. ie: Packaging and Method of shipment as both might prove to be costly.

Yeah, that's the main obstacle that I can see. Canadian postage is pretty outrageous - these paintings aren't heavy, but they're bulky. I can see the cost for mailing just a small painting to be $10-$15 easy - and that's just within Canada.

Kelly, you absolutely must Etsy! Not just because you have so many paintings already -- which is one great reason. But more importantly, because you should share this great work of yours.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement, Diane :-)

Hi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely sell your art! Unfortunately I don't have experience in it. Why not connect with some people who have sites?
The hydrangea piece is very nice.

Thanks Mikky :-) Good idea to talk to some other Etsy sellers about their experiences. I know a few people who sell or have sold their art on Etsy.
DeleteBlue & purple hydrangeas are my favourite flowers :-)
Kelly

ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive feedback!

Never sold, only bought on Etsy ! I am sure you will have loads of customers !
ReplyDeleteThanks for the positivity!

I have zero experience with Etsy (except a ton of buying!), but I say go for it. What's to lose? Your art is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kelly :-) You're right, nothing to lose and possibly a lot to gain :-)

I'm not a seller but a huge buyer, and I think you would be crazy not to give it a go Kelly. There is no reason that your work wont sell.
ReplyDeleteI'm already a crazy dog lady, I can't be doubly crazy! ;-) I really need to give it a try - thanks Dawna :-)

They're lovely. Especially the Hydrangeas.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barabra :-) Hydrangeas are my favourite flower. I have another hydrangea painting in the works, but I don't like it as much as this one. It needs more work!

Pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks!

They're absolutely magnificent! I wish I could do that! Definitely Etsy them! And yes, you may want to look into how you would ship them so you know what you're getting into. Heck, I'd buy them! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks! And Sold! ;-) Yes, I definitely need to look into shipping options. I think that's the one potential obstacle to selling on Etsy.

You would be awesome at Etsy! If you wanted to give a small start, you could always have some at a booth at a craft fair or something like that. I don't know if they would be appreciated as much, but you have such a talent! I think Etsy would be awesome for you!
