Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2014 is Radiant Orchid.
“While the 2013 color of the year, PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination. An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”
“An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”
You know me, I love my purple! In fact, I happen to be wearing this sweater as I type this…
And as soon as I saw it, I thought of my favourite colourful designer, Jamie Drake.

He was way ahead of the forecast with these rooms!

Eileen Kathryn Boyd has also used this gorgeous colour…
And another one of my favourite designers, Amanda Nisbet…
Do you like Radiant Orchid? Would you use it in your home? Yes on both counts here!
Love this colour, and even trough I don't have it in my home so much (... I do have some pillows, though) I use this colour for my clothes!! Beautiful interiors you've round up here!!

Some may call it menopause mauve , but not me, i am loving especially that bathroom.
ReplyDeleteI like this choice better than the recent Pantone colors of the year. It looks divine with white, or pink, or green, as your photos illustrate. I'd like to use Radiant Orchid in my office, not sure how. I can't wear this color without looking like I stole someone else's clothes because my skin tones tend towards olive, but I still want some Radiant Orchid around me!
ReplyDeleteSo I am not to big on this colorful forecast.......... but, Jamie Drake does do it the best. I love the monochrome use of the color, it's a big impact but in a way that doesn't jolt you like using it in a more contrast way would.
ReplyDeleteLove it with the touches of green.....but still don't think it is a color I would ever use indoors.
