There was a big fire in the east end of Ottawa yesterday, and many people had to be evacuated form the area. Residents of a seniors residence were brought to The Good Companions Seniors Center – another way that the center helps the people of Ottawa. Luckily, there were no fatalities caused by the fire, and the seniors enjoyed Swiss Chalet chicken for dinner in the center's cafeteria last night :-)
Today’s Extreme Makeover: Kindness Edition donor profile spotlight is on Kravet Canada.
Paint is a great way to change up a space and make it fresh and bright. But it’s the little details that really help a space come to life. Fabric adds pattern and texture, and thanks to Kravet Canada, that’s exactly what we were able to achieve at The Good Companions Seniors Center. The beautiful new colour palette that we brought into the center definitely had a huge impact on the space, taking away the industrial look and making it feel far more homey. The beautiful fabrics donated by Kravet Canada were like the cherry on top of the sundae :-)

So as you can see, Kravet Canada has a huge range of products to make your home – or senior’s center – beautiful :-) Here are the fabrics they donated to our Extreme Makeover project:
This beautiful striped fabric dressed up the seats and and throw pillows on the bench in the entry (thanks to Maureen at MODECOR and Lisa at Lisa Goulet Design for their handiwork!)
And there was enough of the fabric left over to dress up the bulletin board in the in-house store.
Mary Anne from Otta Decorate! sewed this huge roman blind for the window in the store. How many decorators does it take to hang a blind? ;-)
And Lisa at Lisa Goulet Design used the floral fabric to sew more cushions for the seating area.
Thank you Kravet Canada for helping us create a beautiful space for everyone who works at and visits The Good Companions Seniors Center!

And today being March 17th, I can’t leave you without a little bit of Irish cheer…
Cead Mile Failte!
A hundred thousand welcomes and Happy St. Patrick's Day!
What says “Irish” better than a good corny limerick??
There once was a girl from Nantucket,
Whose guppy Miguel kicked the bucket.
Down the toilet he went,
The scaly, finned gent.
When eating a lollipop, do you lick it or suck it? :-)
Go raibh maith agat!

Great post Kelly! The fabrics really made the space warm and cosy and thanks for the shout out!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the entire post! I was particularily interested in the roman blind as I would like something very similar for a window in my home. Were they stationary and more like a valance? Also, any tips on how they were made would be greatly appreciated. They were beautiful.
