I promised I’d have some giveaways to bribe you to read JAX does design, and I”m a woman of my word! Here’s Bribe #1…
As you may know, I’m a big fan of artist Matt LeBlanc. I have five of his paintings in my house. The most recent addition is #27 from Matt’s Art For Life Campaign. (Did I mention he raised almost $40,000 for cancer research?) I had some fun zooming into different parts of the painting…
I found the perfect spot for #27 – in the hallway on the wall between the closet and the living room. I can look at it every time I leave the house and come home, and I can also see it from the kitchen. I think it adds a great pop of colour to the grey wall. And the thick canvas adds a cool dimension to the painting and looks great from the side.
Over the past five years, Matt’s become a good friend, and he always says Yes when I ask him if he’d be willing to offer one of his paintings for a giveaway. So for my first giveaway, I went to my go-to guy, and he didn’t let me down :-)
Matt is kindly offering this original 16"” x 20” original abstract painting to my giveaway winner:
Doesn’t it look like crashing ocean waves and a sandy beach?
How can you win? Well, I was going to make it complicated and make you get all your friends, family, and random strangers in the street to sign up to follow JAX does design. And I was going to make you all tweet about the giveaway on Twitter and post about it on your blogs and Facebook pages. And I was going to make you leave lots of comments telling me you’d done all those things to get lots of entries. But that’s a lot of work! Plus I expect you to do all those things out of the goodness of your heart and not just so you can win something ;-)
So here’s what you need to do to win – you have to take a Rorschach test. Leave a comment on this post and tell me what you see when you look at this close-up of #27:
There’s no right or wrong answer, I’m just curious to see if you see what I see :-) And it’ll be fun to read the different answers. So let your imagination run wild and think outside the box!
The giveaway is open until next Thursday, October 28th at 11:59PM EDT. I’ll use random.org to select the winner, and I’ll announce the winner’s name next Friday, October 29th when I tell you about my next giveaway. Seriously, there’s going to be a lot of giveaways here. I DID tell you I was going to use bribery to keep you around ;-)
Shut up Kelly!! Best giveaway ever!!
ReplyDeleteI see a whale!!
Hope I win!!
What a great giveaway! These paintings are incredible!
ReplyDeleteI see a landscape in that CU: a large cliff on the bottom right overlooking raging waves in the ocean and some rolling hills in the background. Some birds flying middle right...
Blueberry icing. For a cupcake of course!
ReplyDeleteI now have a Matt Leblanc original in my home...thanks to Kelly...and Matt.
ReplyDeleteI'm at the North Pole looking south.
Someone laying down on a surfboard, pushing themselves through the waves.
ReplyDeleteI love these! I see a whale too:)
ReplyDeleteLeeAnn
I see an homage to Marc Chagall's "The Wrestling of Jacob and the Angel" but with a Canadian twist.
ReplyDeleteThe scene unfolds on the surface of a glacier and there are mountains rising in the background. Chagall's angel is in mid-flight at the lower left side. To the angel's right, there's a snow good stretching his neck in the direction of the angel and there's a cobalt blue butterfly perched on the snow goose's beak. To the right and above the snow goose, a flock of more snow geese fly in formation in the distance.
Remember Kelly, you asked me to write down what I see and there you have it.
I've gotta play along! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI see a whale, too... specifically, an Orca whale! Free Willy by giving him to me!! ;-)
Victoria
You Rock! And when Granny says it, it's true
ReplyDeleteSeriously, before I ever hit the comment button, I saw dolphin, at least two, plying the waters. Here, around Savannah, we see dolphin playing in the waters all the time. They are beautiful creatures, Truly art, as the beautiful Matt Lablanc.
Hope I win, Because the painting reminds me of our beaches and would look great with my colors
scheme./
Oh, I got so excited if forgot to say thanks for visiting today. You know how we love those comments. Thanks for your kind words. Ginger
ReplyDeleteI am in LOVE with that painting and would love to have it in my house! Thank you for such a wonderful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI see a stormy ocean with a beautiful flying fish jumping out of the water!
Fantastic giveaway! I see a boat in the water with hills on the horizon! Thanks for dropping by my blog today!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! I see a whale - well I don't really see anything but I'll go with the whale.
ReplyDeleteI posted this in the sidebar of my blog!
ReplyDeleteOh what a gorgeous bloggy you have created... and with the pups on the header... perfection.. they'll have to do me for now... 'virtual header pets'. Painting?... I see the Sydney Opera House, looking from Circular Quay..... don't you? .... ooh, it's a gorgeous blue. A-M xx
ReplyDeleteWow! Just wow! That painting would be perfect in our guest room. And I love the one that you purchased, it's just beautiful. Interesting, when I look at it hanging in your hall, I see surf. But in close up, I see petals of an iris. It may be time for a new eyeglass prescription :) Kat
ReplyDeleteI've loving all your answers!! Keep them coming!!
ReplyDeleteKelly
Kelly, I love the abstract ocean painting!! Would fit right into my color scheme. As to the painting in blue..., I see Antarctica!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Good Morning Gorgeous! Didn't know you were having a give-a-way??
ReplyDeleteHere's what I see... A big blue mussel shell laying on the beach just waiting to be picked up and put in my pocket.
Caron
PS I will tweet for you and fb you on the Caron's Beach House Page -
Great idea, that bribery thing. I may have to try that for The Brave New Home! Or maybe I can just do shameless plugs on other people's blogs. No...no. I won't do that.
ReplyDeleteThe blue painting...I see...
a stormy night at see, with one little boat struggling to stay afloat.
Seems I'm not alone in this vision! Isn't it fascinating how the human mind works? How we try to make sense of something abstract, and we come up with very similar visions?
At first I saw a whale, but the more I look at it, it reminds me of a stringray in very very blue water. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI see waves welcoming you to an ice cave.
ReplyDeleteWell at first I could ony see a form of picture from upside down... turn it around and I see a polar bear swimming....
ReplyDeleteBut i let me eyes relax and sit in trance mode and now I can see some lovely footsteps heading in towards the enchanted cave at the back.
Just gorgeous!
I love blue as a colour and am now off to look at more of Matt LeBlancs art work.
Thanks for sharing !!!
Hey Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI am vying for this one as well ! :)
I see a small opening to a cave in the mountains, ocean right beside it, sandy beach, boat (the little black bit) and birds...hope it's not too out there !
Well, I'm not very good at this stuff, what I see is a close up of a Matt Leblanc painting. :)!
ReplyDeleteThis giveaway is AWESOME Kelly, thanks to Matt!! I see a canoe lost in a sea of waves...
ReplyDeleteNancy
I see dolphins jumping in the waves while birds fly over head...(does this mean I am crazy?) Oh, and I loved Matt on Friends! :) (JK)
ReplyDeleteI see a leaf floating on water. Whether I win or not is beside the point. Thank you for introducing me to Matt Leblanc's work. It looks absolutely stunning hanging in your home!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I AM going to tweet this giveaway. Never seen one as wonderful as this ever!
Wow, way to start your giveaways off with a bang!
ReplyDeleteI see a stormy ocean.
You are just taunting me with that fabulous Matt LeBlanc ocean artwork!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd what is it with our Rorschack tests?! LOL. I see a blue hued, moonlit, desert canyon basin. And I see a perfect spot for that Matt LeBlanc painting...my OCD!
Well Kelly, this is a challenge! I see a SF landscape of an ice planet where you see the rest of their airplane - the wings crashed on the ground and some people climbing up a hill to explore the big cave in the far back. There is something like a beach where some water? apparently has melted and another small mountain ridge may be another obstacle. Do you need more of a crazy mind????
ReplyDeleteKelly I am walking over a hillside and see a cave in th distance with light beckoning. What could it be....
ReplyDeleteI love Matt's art!
xoxo

What a FANTASTIC giveaway! I see a small boat caught in a huge swell.

I posted about you in the sidebar of my blog! I tried to copy your header into it, but couldn't do it. Let's just say I am not on the technically savvy end of the spectrum! I just wrote about how talented you are!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am itching to have that painting! I have been checking out all his work. I am keeping my fingers crossed!!!!
I see a whale in the water. WOULD LOVE THIS PAINTING!
ReplyDeleteA small sail boat about to get sucked into a whirlpool in a sea of crashing waves.
ReplyDeleteSue
Beautiful painting. I see a flock of birds in a thunder cloud.
ReplyDeleteHi from Kathy -- I am reminded of Van Gogh's Stary Night painting. Kathy/Los Angeles
ReplyDeleteI think it looks like the sea swirling around rocks that are sticking out of the water. I may be influenced by my just coming back from Italy and spending alot of time by the ocean....
ReplyDeleteI just posted about your blog on my Facebook page! I am all over this painting!!! It has my name on it if you look really closely on the back. Go ahead... check! It should be there!!!
ReplyDeleteIndeed- what a beautiful painting. At first glance, I saw a dolphin jumping through waves. At closer look, I now see a feather about to land in a gentle ocean.
ReplyDeleteHi guys,
ReplyDeleteI want to first congratulate Kelly for starting her new blog. I’m really excited for her and happy to be part of it. I also want to thank everyone who took the time to participate in this giveaway. You posted so many compliments towards my work, which means a lot to me. You guys actually inspired my next blog post that will be based on what people see in my paintings. It should be a lot of fun !!!
Thanks again !
